Your ‘About Me’ page is one of the first things prospective clients see when they look for you online. If your web copy is generic, vague, or just a little bland, you might be losing clients before you even have a chance to talk to them. Does your ‘About Me’ page say any of the following?

Erin’s website is unique, professional, and incredibly compelling. Her approach to copywriting emphasizes who she is and her specific experiences (‘a start up junkie and project manager’) as well as what her clients can expect (‘thoughtful advice and well-informed expertise’). The result is an ‘About Me’ page that makes prospects feel confident and comfortable working with her. Erin offers this advice for writing web copy that wows prospects:

“Don’t be afraid to be true to your voice. Trying to please everyone results in generic sounding copy, which pretty much no one is drawn to. About pages exist to give people a sense of what working together is like, so let it truly be representative of your approach. I’m a fairly casual person, chatty to a fault and I try to have fun within the bounds of a pretty serious job, so I let the copy have the same friendly, conversational tone that you’d get in an email or sit-down with me. It’s intentional, but it’s also true/authentic (though I hate that word), which makes it easy to be consistent.”

While the right words will be unique to your particular industry and personality, being yourself online is one of the best things you can do for your business.
